A Gluten Free Christmas: Advent Calendars and Selection Boxes

Posted in: Gluten free Christmas, gluten free challenges

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without advent calendars and selection boxes,- even a gluten free Christmas! Okay, so talking about gluten free advent calendars is a little late - we’ re nearly two weeks into them and the excitement is running high.  I’m sure there are gluten free advent calendars in the shops, but I didn’t want to chance it, and we have had our own home-made advent calendars for years, which I can fill with gluten free goodies - edible or fun!
When it came to selection boxes I was struggling a bit.  Maybe there are some completely gluten free ones - and if you have found any, please comment and let me know - but all the ones I looked at had at least one bar which contained gluten (or ‘may contain’ gluten).  I suppose buying it and hoping his sister would swap for the gluten bar was one option, but not the best.

Then I discovered these amazing glass storage jars, and with a bit of glass paint they were personalised candy jars.  I filled them with gluten free chocolate and candy that both kids love (so there are no complaints such as ”why do I have to eat gluten free food - I’m not celiac” from his younger sister!

I’m really pleased with the results and I think the kids will be on Christmas morning too. I’m just hopng neither of them find this post…
